Prayer - Page 3 of 4
We pray for those who are sick, injured, and in need of care. We ask you
to be with all people in harm's way as they strive for peace, and civilians
who bear the scars of war on their bodies and in their hearts. We praise
your name for the work of doctors and nurses treating those with war
wounds.
God of light and hope, hear our prayers.
We thank God for the safe return to the U.S. from Haiti of eight
American missionaries recently detained on suspicion of child-stealing. We pray
for a speedy resolution to the situation, and for unrestricted international
efforts to make possible a good childhood for all Haitian children.
God of all hopefulness - hear our prayers.
Let us pray for all those who accept the discipline of Lent. Let the work
of setting ourselves apart from the world in order to draw closer to your
holiness be blessed. Draw us into the splendor of your love in Christ.
Between heights of piety and the depths of despondency, let our faith
flourish and surprise the world of unbelief. Grant us a new sense of wholeness in
Christ and a better understanding of your purpose as we live through each
Lenten day.
Holy Spirit be amongst us as we 'walk in solitude through our deserts.'
Christ Jesus, our Brother, help us each day to remember your sojourn in
the desert.
Gracious God, have mercy upon us; have mercy on us all.
